Edmonton-area musician reunited with unique Nicaraguan cigar-box guitar
A local musician is no longer singing the blues over missing his one-of-a-kind guitar made from a cigar box.
Harold Reichstein was reunited with his unique Nicaraguan cigar-box guitar Thursday when Fort Saskatchewan RCMP retrieved it.
“Honestly thanks to who turned it in and everyone else who helped,” Reichstein said in a Facebook post Thursday.
Reichstein believes the guitar, etched with the words “Esteli, Nicaragua” was originally swiped after his gig at the Polo Lounge in Sherwood Park on Dec. 13.
The musician said the guitar “will be back in the mix” at his Thursday night set at Roustabouts Restaurant in Fort Saskatchewan.
“It’s a really bluesy kind of sound, so that’s why I decided I really wanted one of those,” he told CBC News.
“Plus it’s visually appealing, everyone is curious about what you’re playing.”
The $400 guitar was handmade in Calgary by Mark Kost, owner of Winston & Fidel.
